The perfect despedida party

By Grace Libero

Dear Grace,

I’m throwing my best friend a despedida party, as she’s already migrating to Canada. I want this party to be very memorable for her, given that we won’t be seeing each other for a really long time. On top of my mind, the concept I want for the party is something that’s a favorite of hers and at the same time, something our friends share with her—that is, love for sweets. Can you suggest a nice hangout we can rent to hold this party in or maybe even get delish sweet goodies from? Thanks!—Anna, 23

Dear Anna,

First of all, I’d just like to say that I love that idea. It’s so simple yet it sounds really fun, a sure bonding time for you girls. And figuratively, it’s like a way of cherishing the sweet memories you’ve shared together. I’m not sure how much time you have to prepare everything for this event, but here are my suggestions: 1) If you already have a location in mind—maybe your best friend’s house, your house, or any of your common friends’—you might want to check out Sweet Bella located in Forbestown Center, Burgos Circle in The Fort and buy all the desserts and pastries you think will be nice to munch on.  Must-tries in Sweet Bella’s menu are the Chocolata cake, Trio cake, Cocobella chocolates, French macaroons, among many others. 2) If you want a cozy, laid-back place to hold this party in, I suggest you check out Monsee’s along White Plains. Its quaint interior not only guarantees a fun, intimate gathering to remember, it also offers great sweet stuff sure to satisfy you and your friends’ sweet tooth. Have a variety and be sure to order their ensaymada, cakes, cupcakes, muffins, donuts, etc. And if anything, Monsee’s has 15 flavors of breadsticks, too! I’m sure your best friend will appreciate this. Enjoy!
